Last week, on 30th November at the Georgian Group Architectural Awards 2017 in London, Hugh Garratt was delighted to accept the Award for Best Restoration of a Georgian Interior on behalf of Smith & Garratt as designers and project managers for the restoration of Marchmont House. The Georgian Group is the national charity for the protection of Georgian Buildings, townscapes, monuments, parks and gardens; its patron is the Prince of Wales. These prestigious awards are hosted annually by the Royal Institute of British Architects with a champagne reception at its headquarters in Portland Place. Marchmont House, in the Scottish Borders, belongs to Marchmont Farms Ltd – whose directors were present to collect the owners’ award. It is transformed from a building on the Register of Buildings at Risk to an award winner!
