Smith & Garratt is a specialised surveying practice providing of bespoke services
to property owners throughout Scotland and the north of England.
The majority of our work is technical in nature - where land and law coincide.
The practice is headed by A Hugh Garratt LL.B (Hons) FRICS FAAV - double qualified
as a surveyor and in law.
A Company Director and Trustee, Hugh Garratt is RICS-accredited in Building Conservation;
an experienced valuer of real property and Fellow of the Association of Agricultural
Valuers; a member of the RICS Dispute Resolution Panel and the Forestry Commission
Review Panel. He spent 20 years as a resident land agent, managing four substantial
estates (two in England and two in Scotland), before completing his law degree in
2004.
Hugh is supported by a small and dedicated team including co-director, Mrs W J (Smith)
Garratt Bs (Hons) Agric, who deals with accounts, payroll, and investments as well
as providing accounts-based services to a discrete client-base.
The firm was formed in 2000 and has operated from the Borders since 2006.
